New In: Whistles & River Island Spring 2016
Today I have created a few outfit ideas with pieces from two very different retailers, Whistles and River Island, while browsing though their latest additions to their Spring lines. Having a clear idea of a silhouette in mind, it should be easy to come up with some interesting combinations.
The first look is based around this lovely checked mac coat by River Island. I love how simple it is but most of all, the length. Very flattering even if you are not that tall and skinny. The acetate round-frame sunglasses are a great way to add a twist to any look and make it even more stylish. Also, Derby shoes and great quality trousers will make a big difference as well.
Holdall bag, £45 (riverisland.com)
Smart checked mac coat, £70 (riverisland.com)
Round-frame sunglasses, £65 (whistles.com)
Pocket detail striped t-shirt, £45 (whistles.com)
Flecked slim-fit trouser, £110 (whistles.com)
Leather colour block heel Derby shoes, £30 (riverisland.com)
A bit of a mix and match, the next pieces can be interchanged to create different options depending on the weather. The knitted polo hangs very nicely as the fabric is rich and soft, and would look great with linen shorts or textured chinos. The leather sneakers will make both options casual and off-duty, even when wearing a crisp white shirt. Go for a collarless one to avoid a business look.
Knitted button through polo, £95 (whistles.com)
Check funnel neck collar Harrington jacket, £50 (riverisland.com)
Collarless Oxford shirt, £85 (whistles.com)
Linen slim shorts, £28 (riverisland.com)
Low top leather trainers, £115 (whistles.com)
Tapered chino trousers, £30 (riverisland.com)
Jeans or chinos combine nicely with suede boots, but please do not wear them if it rains: you will ruin the material, and there is nothing as off-putting as wet and soaked shoes. I would wear both the shirt and the sweatshirt with rolled up sleeves. Do not be afraid of breaking some rules.
